2021 Shoebox Appeal

Throughout October we will be collecting shoeboxes for the annual Blythswood Care Christmas appeal. Your kindness and generosity makes such a difference, receiving a shoebox brings so much joy. Things we take for granted are like luxuries to people living in poverty.

Blythswood Care hope to be able to deliver boxes to vulnerable communities across Eastern Europe including Albania, Bulgaria, Hungary, Kosovo, Moldova, Romania, Serbia and Ukraine. Watch the Blythswood Care Shoe Box Appeal videos below and consider filling a shoebox this year to bring some joy to someone in need this Christmas.

If you can, please fill a shoebox and bring to church before the end of October – thank you.

  • Please use average sized shoeboxes and decide who to fill it for (man/ woman/ teenager/ child), fill with a selection of products from the suggested list below which is also available in church.
  • Donate £3 minimum to cover the cost of transporting, and secure with rubber bands.

It may be that this year you have difficulty in finding empty shoeboxes. If this is the case, please use a drawstring bag instead (like a gym bag). The maximum size should be 400mm x 300mm which can hold as much as an average sized shoebox. We also request that the drawstring bag is not plastic as the bag itself is a useful item to give to people.

For all you knitters out there – there is a pattern available on the Blythswood website for hats & gloves to include in the shoeboxes.

Note – This would be a very worthwhile cause to use your local government £100 shopping voucher, and especially if you purchase the goods in local independent shops.
