Our next Sole Mates outing is to the Whitehead to Blackhead coastal path, Co Antrim .
We will meet in St Molua’s Church carpark at 9.45am on Saturday 21 June and travel by Glider (G1) to Lanyon Station where we will catch the train to Whitehead.
At Whitehead there will be a choice of stages
Stage1
Suitable for all
Good level path along shore
Stage 2
At own risk with caution
Along the base of Blackhead, uneven steps which could be slippery skirting over the water. Narrow passageways and rocky overhang. Other than that really interesting taking us to the base of the lighthouse. Most will return the same way.
Stage 3
Only for those confident and fit without any adverse medical conditions
Steep ascent to lighthouse, handrails but uneven steps. A strenuous climb but worth the view. Steep descent mostly with handrails.
Our walks are open to all – to church members, friends and relatives and anyone else who would like to join us. However, please note:
– Under 18s must be accompanied by an adult.
– All walkers take part at their own risk.
– All walkers must ensure that they are fit and healthy enough to undertake the walk they are attending.
– All walkers are advised to exercise caution and to wear suitable walking shoes/boots and outdoor clothing.
– On the walk:
- A register will be taken at the start of the walk of all participants.
- Walkers must follow all safety advice given by the walk leader.
